Just a short while...

Ok, so sometimes our TV can take a little while to turn on. Up to a couple of hours between pressing the button and getting a picture. It's been very good recently so I was pretty optimistic when I turned it on during the day last Saturday.

hmmm. waiting waiting.......

We've just walked in the door tonight, Friday night almost a week later to discover that it's finally turned on. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to risk turning it off.....

Why?

What can cause such a delay? Is there a dodgy capacitor somewhere?

I'm curious, now. Must give everything a wiggle next time at your place.

With the voltages involved, it might be best to shoot the tv before it bite you though.

Looked at getting new telly. Not willing to spend $800-$1500 yet. (If buying new telly I'd want it to be at least as good as this one when it's working). Tried pulling off the back cover and tapping circuit boards and suspicious components, checking for loose cables, checking for dust and avoiding flyback transformers. Bearing in mind that after it was completely removed from power for ages it turned on instantly the next 3 times. Then it took a week to turn on.

It'll make a trip to the TV doctor real soon now (tm)....

I have a television sitting in my house waiting to go to a pawn shop, as I inherited another one from my parents. It's in perfect working order. I think I was going to be asking around $100 for it, but we could talk, if you were interested.
